Brits rush to French winter resorts

Overview of easing travel restrictions Johannes Röll Visitors: 630 ★★★★★

Bookings at French winter tourist resorts have skyrocketed after Paris announced it was easing travel restrictions on Britons to France.

Last month, the Macron government announced that only barely necessary travel would be allowed from the UK, but from this Friday everyone will now be free to travel as long as they are vaccinated and present a negative test taken no later than 24 hours before they leave.

The borders are open to the British, and the tourist resorts themselves are characteristically reported on social media.

Vienna is also pursuing a similar tactic with Paris. Austria welcomes British tourists as long as they are vaccinated three times. For Italy it is enough to make two doses. Switzerland also requires a vaccination certificate to ensure access to its ski resorts.

Finally, in Germany, which lifted its ban on British citizens from January 4, vaccinated visitors are not required to undergo a quarantine procedure upon entering the country.
