Former presidents of Russia will receive guarantees of complete immunity, including from criminal liability. The State Duma adopted the corresponding bill in the first reading on November 17, according to the website of the country's lower house of parliament.

The bill provides that the head of state, who has terminated the exercise of his powers, can not be held criminally or administratively liable. He also cannot be detained, arrested, subjected to a search, interrogation or body search.

Moreover, the living and office premises occupied by the ex-president, his vehicles, communications, documents belonging to him, luggage and correspondence are inviolable.

Pavel Krasheninnikov, chairman of the parliamentary committee on state construction, said that this is "important for the stability of the state and society."

Earlier, a bill on the procedure for removing the president from office and on the immunity of the ex-president was submitted to the State Duma.
